Which days of the week are open for lessons?

  • We hold lessons on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday’s, this may change to the Term or Seasons. Please refer to the Bookings page for full details.

Which beach are the lessons at?

  • We hold our lessons between at Trigg Beach, the nearest carpark is directly south or north of the Surfing WA building.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • If required a refund you must cancel 2 weeks before commencement.

How do I book?

What is Damon's coaching experience? 

  • Damon is a qualified Surfing Australia Level 2 Coach, Level 2 judge, Western Australia State Junior Team Coach and the Surfing WA Perth Metropolitan Coach. He has also coached and mentored surfers such as Josh Kerr, CJ Hobgood and Noa Deane throughout their professional careers. 

If you miss a lesson?

  • Make up sessions will on be offered if the session is cancelled due to unsurfable conditions.

  • If you are unable to attend any sessions only 1 make up session will be offered over the term

  • Only 1 make up lesson per grom per term for any of the above reasons. The make up lesson will be held after the last week of the term.

  • DAMON HAYES SURF ACADEMY PARTICIPATION DECLARATION

    By enrolling in Damon Hayes Surf Academy, I acknowledge, understand and agree to the following terms and conditions on behalf of myself and/or my child.

    1. Organisers

    For the purposes of this declaration, “Organisers” means Damon Hayes Surf Academy and includes, where the context permits, its coaches, staff, representatives and agents.

    2. Warning – Inherent Risks

    Participating in surfing and ocean-based activities can be inherently dangerous.

    I understand the nature and requirements of the program and acknowledge that serious accidents can and do happen, which may result in serious injury or death.

    I have voluntarily read and understood this warning and accept that participation involves inherent risks, including but not limited to changing ocean conditions, waves, currents, marine life, collisions, equipment-related injuries and other hazards associated with surfing.

    3. Physical Fitness and Medical Conditions

    I confirm that I and/or my child are medically and physically fit and able to participate in the program.

    I understand that I must inform Damon Hayes directly of any injury, disability, medical condition or health concern that may increase the risk of injury or affect safe participation before attending coaching.

    I agree to notify Damon Hayes of any change in medical or physical fitness that may affect participation.

    I understand that participation may be restricted if a condition presents a safety risk.

    4. Instructions and Safety Procedures

    I agree that I and/or my child will follow all reasonable instructions, coaching directions and safety procedures provided by Damon Hayes Surf Academy and its coaches at all times.

    I understand that the coach may modify, postpone, relocate or cancel a session if ocean conditions, weather, marine life or other circumstances are considered unsuitable or unsafe.

    5. Medical Treatment

    If medical assistance is required, I authorise Damon Hayes Surf Academy and its coaches to arrange appropriate medical or hospital treatment, including ambulance transportation, where reasonably necessary.

    I understand that reasonable efforts will be made to contact a parent or guardian where appropriate, but emergency treatment may be arranged without prior contact if required.

    I acknowledge that I am responsible for applicable medical, ambulance and hospital expenses not otherwise covered.

    6. Release and Indemnity

    Participation in the program is undertaken with an understanding of the inherent risks associated with surfing and ocean-based activities.

    To the extent permitted by law, I agree to release and discharge Damon Hayes Surf Academy and its coaches, staff, representatives and agents from claims arising from or in connection with participation in the program, except to the extent such claims cannot lawfully be excluded or arise from negligence or other conduct for which liability cannot be excluded by law.

    To the extent permitted by law, I agree to indemnify Damon Hayes Surf Academy against claims made by third parties arising from my or my child’s participation, except to the extent caused by the negligence or other conduct of the party seeking indemnity, or where such indemnity is otherwise prohibited by law.

    Nothing in this declaration excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Australian Consumer Law or other relevant legislation.

    For the purposes of this clause, “Claims” includes claims, demands, actions, proceedings, damages, costs and expenses arising in connection with participation in the program.

    7. Photography and Video

    I acknowledge that photographs and video footage may be taken during coaching sessions for coaching, educational and promotional purposes.

    Where images or footage are intended to be used for promotional purposes, appropriate consent will be sought.

    I understand that coaching footage may be used to review surfing technique and provide feedback to participants and their parents or guardians.

    8. Privacy

    I understand that personal information provided during registration is collected for the administration and delivery of Damon Hayes Surf Academy programs, communication with participants and parents or guardians, and the safe operation of coaching sessions.

    I understand that personal information will be handled appropriately and will not be shared with unrelated third parties except where required for program delivery, safety, legal obligations or with appropriate consent.

    I may request access to personal information held about me or my child, subject to applicable privacy laws.

    I understand that failure to provide information reasonably required for registration, communication or safe participation may affect eligibility to participate in the program.

    9. Surfer’s Medical Information (Confidential)

    If your child has any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, disabilities or other relevant health information that the coach should be aware of, please contact Damon Hayes directly to discuss these matters confidentially before participating in coaching sessions.

    Please do not enter confidential medical information into the general website registration form.

    10. Acknowledgement and Agreement

    By enrolling in Damon Hayes Surf Academy, I confirm that I have read, understood and agree to this participation declaration.

    If registering a child under 18 years of age, I confirm that I am their parent or legal guardian and that I consent to their participation in the program under these terms.

    I understand that surfing and ocean-based activities involve inherent risks and that the safety of all participants depends on following the coach’s instructions and safety procedures.

    I confirm that the information provided during registration is accurate and complete to the best of my knowledge.
